Acción Latina, Art+Action, and San Francisco’s Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs co-present Cuenta Conmigo: 2020 Census edition of Paseo Artístico this Thursday, May 7 at 6pm PST on Acción Latina’s Facebook Live. Artists Yosimar Reyes, Cece Carpio, and host Chris Cuadrado discuss how Latinx, Pilipx, Queer, and Brown communities have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and how we can respond by filling out the 2020 Census.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
YOSIMAR REYES is a nationally acclaimed Poet and Public speaker. Born in Guerrero and raised in East Side San José, Reyes explores themes of migration and sexuality in his work. The Advocate named Reyes one of “13 LGBT Latinos Changing the World” REMEZCLA included Reyes on their list of “10 Up and Coming Latinx Poets You Need To Know.”
CECE CARPIO uses acrylic, ink, aerosol, and installations to tell stories of immigration, ancestry, resistance, and resilience. Born in the Philippines, Cece has been commissioned by the City of Oakland, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, UC Berkeley, and Oakland Museum of CA. She is a member of Trust Your Struggle Art Collective and currently works as the Galleries Manager for the San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC), and is a Public Art Commissioner for the City of Oakland.
