Originally from Indonesia, Innosanto Nagara has been designing for social change for over 25 years. He started doing design as a student activist in the late 80s and continued in San Francisco designing for labor, feminist, environmental, and community organizations, later joining the Inkworks Press collective in Berkeley and adding the power of design to their movement printing services. In 2003 he founded Design Action Collective, a worker owned collective union design studio with the goal of serving movement graphic design and visual communications needs. He is the author and illustrator of a number of social justice themed children’s books, including the bestseller A is for Activist.
